PLA 3D printing

PLA is the most common FDM material: easy to print, dimensionally accurate and inexpensive. It is ideal for visual models, prototypes and assembly aids — wherever there is no significant heat or impact load.

Material properties

Material properties
Tensile strength ~50–60 MPa
Heat resistance ~50–55 °C
Toughness low (brittle)
Key property rigid, easy to print, low warping

Values are indicative; they vary with print orientation and settings.

Why choose it?

  • Rigid, crisp detail, clean surface
  • Low warping, accurate dimensions
  • Lowest material cost, so cheap prototypes
  • Available in 24 colors

Typical applications

  • Visual and form models
  • Functional prototypes (light loads)
  • Jigs, templates, assembly aids
  • Decoration, gifts, scale models

Keep in mind

  • Softens above ~50–55 °C — avoid cars, direct sun and hot environments
  • Brittle: can snap under impact or bending
  • Not UV-stable outdoors long term — choose ASA instead

Frequently asked questions

How much does PLA printing cost?

The price depends on part size and print time. Upload an STL/OBJ/3MF file and get a real, slicing-based price within seconds.

Can PLA be used outdoors?

Short term yes, long term no: sun and heat can deform it. We recommend ASA for outdoor use, PETG or PA12 for mechanical loads.
