ASA 3D printing
ASA is ABS's outdoor-oriented relative: it keeps the heat resistance and toughness, but sun and rain wear it down far more slowly. It is the first-choice material for outdoor and automotive parts.
Material properties
| Tensile strength | ~40–45 MPa |
|---|---|
| Heat resistance | ~95–100 °C |
| Toughness | good |
| Key property | excellent UV / weather resistance |
Values are indicative; they vary with print orientation and settings.
Why choose it?
- Excellent UV and weather resistance
- ~95–100 °C heat resistance
- Good toughness and dimensional stability
- Even, matte surface
Typical applications
- Outdoor enclosures, brackets, mounts
- Automotive exterior/interior parts, spares
- Sun-exposed camera, sensor and antenna mounts
- Garden and architectural accessories
Keep in mind
- More expensive than PLA
- Shrinkage means tolerances are discussed for tight fits
Frequently asked questions
Why ASA for outdoor use?
UV radiation breaks down ABS and PLA over time, while ASA stays color-stable and tough much longer.
Do you make spare parts in ASA?
